Man In The Middle #3: A Look At No Escape 2012
Published Monday, 13th February 2012
It seems like an age since the last IPW:UKevent last November but in two weeks time, IPW:UKreturns with a bang with No Escape 2012, live from the Wyvern Hall in Sittingbourne.
Our last event saw some incredible matches including a tag team classic between the Leaders and the Young Bucks, a wrestling clinic from Nigel McGuiness and Joel Redman and a great contest between Heavyweight champion Sha Samuels and the Lion Kid. The event capped a fantastic year for IPW:UKand myself personally as I got the chance to be in the ring with some of the greatest wrestlers in the world thanks to IPW:UK.
Now as the company heads towards its biggest year yet and the huge event on April 28th inLondon, IPW:UK is looking to kick off the year in grand fashion with an event that could easily be the best wrestling show of 2012!
During my time with IPW:UK ive had the pleasure of seeing some fantastic wrestling cards and every time I think that we cant put on a bigger show, IPW:UK match maker Andy Quildan pulls a rabbit out of the hat and surpasses everyone’s expectations.
On February 26th IPW:UK will show why they are the best inEurope with a card featuring 3 world class cruiserweight matches, a huge clash for the Undisputed British Heavyweight championship and the IPW:UK debut of wrestling legend, Dave ‘Fit’ Finlay. Could a wrestling fan ask for anymore?
One of the biggest matches on the card and the one im looking forward to is the return of the Thrillers, Joel Redman and Mark Haskins as a tag team when they face Project Ego. The Thrillers matches in 2009 were among the best in IPW:UKhistory and this return could be the start of something special. A win for either team here could earn them a shot at the Leaders tag team championships.
After narrowly escaping with his championship reign in tact following his match with The Lion Kid in November, now is surely game over for Sha Samuels? When he takes on an angry and motivated Dave Mastiff I’d bet my house that we will crown a new champion. I see this match being nothing less than an all out war.
On this road to Revolution we are also on the road to crowning a new cruiserweight champion. Current finalist Marty Scurll will take on Dragon GateUSAand Evolve star AR Fox. Whilst Marty has already earned his place in the cruiserweight tournament final he must not overlook the American star or let his recent Take Me Out television appearance let him get distracted from his ultimate goal of IPW:UKgold!
In the second bracket of the cruiserweight tournament, Zack Sabre Jr takes on the debuting Wild Boar and Noam Dar takes on the returning Sami Callihan. These matches are mouth-watering and the possibilities for this tournament are something that wrestling fans are talking about up and down the country. Who will face Marty Scurll at Troxy in April? The smart money says don’t bet against Sabre Jr.
And the final match on the card is something im very much looking forward to as ‘The Guvnor’ Returns to an IPW:UK ring after 18 months to take on a man that he respects greatly, that man being Dave ‘Fit’ Finlay. The fighting Irishman is a British wrestling legend and is still regarded by his peers and fans alike as one of the very best in the world. Stone must put respect aside and focus on gaining the biggest victory of his career over the incredibly tough Finlay. The Irish star is renowned for knowing every trick in the book and im going to have to be at my best to deal with such a wily veteran. The biggest question going into this match is what kind of ring rust is Stone carrying after 18 months out of action?
As always, February 26th is going to be huge for IPW:UK and its fans as we head towards Revolution!
I'll see you from the ring…
