U-GENE Returning To IPW:UK For The Big Bromley Debut!
» Back in January we saw the British independent debut of colourful former WWE star U-Gene, who got a popular reaction in both Portsmouth and Orpington. U-Gene managed to win a scheduled match with LT Summers in Portsmouth whilst defeating Blok Busta in an impromptu match and came to the ring to help Andy Boy Simmonz in his long-running battle with The Hated Heroes in Orpington. All this made for a busy weekend for the Louisville, Kentucky native, but he’s back again next month to bring more fun to our debut event in Bromley.
Once again the former WWE Tag Team Champion is under an open-ended agreement meaning his opponent has not yet been confirmed. It is guaranteed to be a top star from the IPW roster, but U-Gene won’t care. He will battle against whomever he has to and make sure he has fun to boot.
IPW:UK Bid Farewell To The Orpington Halls!
» It was an emotional night for everyone involved in IPW:UK as we took one final bow in Orpington, but there have been many stars over the three and a half years at the venue. A number of them hadn’t been seen for a while, but the lure of one final curtain call in the prestigious halls.
The Kartel have been battling The Leaders of the New School for a while now, and an eight-man tag was set up to try and end the bitterness once and for all. Given the chance to pick their own partners, they turned to two men who they knew all about from their fight in the first ever TLC match at the First Year Anniversary event, bringing the first IPW Tag Champs AK-47 back together. The last time we’d seen Ashe and Kris Linnell they had fought inside a steel cage, and here they were back on the same team. After winning the match with The Kris of Death, The Leaders took advantage of the injury to Sha Samuels with a 4 on 3 attack, which was stopped by the returning Battalion. Returning to one of the biggest reactions of the night, Battalion cleaned house in a monumental moment.
All this before the Battle Royale itself. With Ashe and Linnell then included in the match and JC Thunder and Chris Hero making shocking returns, there was two more one off appearances which could not be predicted. As Paul Robinson dumped out Ricky Knight and Sam Slam, he could never imagined that the next man to the ring would be one of his toughest opponents in IPW history, indeed “Mr IPW” Ashley Reed. With Donna at ringside to accompany him, Reed took Robinson out and, when ready to eliminate himself, returned to the ring at the sound of “Superstar” Tony Sefton’s music. Both men renewed another classic IPW:UK Orpington feud and battled it out before being eliminated by LT Summers.
To all those who were involved in “the Orpington years”, and who made it such a special night with their returns, we can only say thank you.
Royale Rewards For Summers?
» The Royale Rewards have always been a key feature on the IPW calendar, and for those people fortunate (or should we say) skilled enough to get one of these May 4th has become an extremely important date. This is in particular for LT Summers as, by becoming the first man to eliminate BOTH Tag Team Champions in one match, he has till that day to decide whom his partner will be for his match against The Kartel.
It would seem like the obvious choice of partner would be a fellow Hated Hero and, with Billi Lightning already “prepared” to face Martin Stone it would look likely that Aviv Maayan could fill the void. But it is also quite possible that Summers would see this as an easy option, and another choice could leave Samuels and Frazier unprepared for the match. They have the bullseye from the title gold and many, many wrestlers would jump at the chance to step in the ring with them. Summers may have the swerve ball lined up and come the debut in Bromley, he may be ready to strike The Kartel out.
And therefore the current card for IPW:UK “Royale Rewards” on Sunday May 4th 2008 is:
IPW:UK Title Match
- ‘The Guvnor’ Martin Stone (c) [first defences] vs. TV Reality Star Billi Lightning!
IPW:UK Tag Title Match
