» A match that has been one year in the making between two of the best British heavyweights of the past decade: Martin Stone & Danny Garnell. Two men who started out roughly at the same time with both men choosing completely different paths to take their careers, Garnell as the poster boy for Sanjay Bagga’s LDN Wrestling, Martin Stone as the cornerstone and flag bearer of IPW:UK. Stone went on to achieve a great deal of success and publicity whilst Garnell remained one of British Wrestling’s best kept secrets.
However thanks to IPW:UK’s open door policy this UK dream match that was talked about for years by wrestling insiders became a reality as Danny Garnell invaded IPW and promptly laid down a challenge to Martin Stone.
Over the past 12 months Garnell has frustrated Stone using the rules of contests to his advantage, getting himself counted out, intentionally disqualified and getting his allies involved to play the numbers game and perhaps the key fact in all of this never being pinned. Sure the means to achieve this feat may have been dubious but the fact remains they are playing on the mind of Stone who has been left angry and frustrated at his inability to put Garnell away for that elusive 1..2..3
In fact so desperate was Stone to get a rematch with a level playing field, he accepted the challenge laid down by Garnell to take on two very dangerous opponents and in Chris Wyld & Yarghos Christopoulos under the understanding that if in the unlikely circumstance he was victorious he could have a match of his choosing with Garnell.
Like a true warrior Stone was able to overcome the odds and when posed with the question how do you stop Garnell running away, effectively eliminate all rules and prevent people from interfering? Stone came up with this answer: a 16 foot high steel cage and one of the most eagerly anticipated matches in British Wrestling history.
