Aviv Maayan, one of the many graduates of the FWA Academy in Portsmouth, is possibly the one who's had the most success in IPW:UK.
Over the course of early 2005, Maayan had an epic feud with German wrestler the "New Superstar" Stevie Douglas, culminating in a gripping ladder match—or so we thought. After interference from an outside party, Douglas won the ladder match, and in doing so captured Maayan's chance to become the first IPW:UK Champion, the joint number one contendership to that gold (there had been two "Best of British" events, each crowning a joint number one contender to the to-be-formed IPW:UK title—one being Maayan: the Best High Flyer, and one being Stone: the Best Heavyweight).
And so—beleaguered at having had his shot taken away—Maayan entered himself into the July Weekend of Champions Battle Royal to crown a new number one contender, designed to fight the IPW:UK Champion on Weekend of Champions: Night 2. Epically, however, Maayan was offered a spot in the first ever title match, to take his shot right away. He accepted, and in pinning Stevie Douglas, Maayan not only got the revenge he so desired, but also captured the IPW:UK Title. He was the first ever IPW:UK Champion...
But only for 24 hours. On Night 2, Stone threatened his way into a re-match for the gold, and after a devastating shot with a cricket bat while the referee was out, Stone took the one-two-three, and too took the gold.
Ever since that loss, Maayan spiraled into the mid-card and below in IPW:UK. After suffering back-to-back defeats, he was omitted from IPW:UK's January line-up, but Andy Boy Simmonz had a way for the young man from Winchester to get back on track. After beginning Andy Boy's training regime, the two united for the first time in public eyes in April of 2006, and have been together ever since.
